Sienna Grace Hansen
So yesterday my wife gave birth to our first born. Sienna Grace Hansen was born after 21 hours of labour. I’m so proud of both my girls.
Sitting here today though, I cannot help but just stare at my daughter. She is like a lava lamp. She is soooooo beautiful! (A lava lamp isn’t really beautiful - that analogy was in reference to the mesmerising effect)
One of the things I did was to change my home screen picture to this one:

And while sitting here and working on my phone, I looked up at my daughter sleeping and down to the home screen picture and then back up at her again and just thought, a picture has nothing on reality.
Then I was thinking about our beautiful Saviour. I just finished a John Piper book about Calvin and one of the things John Calvin was known for was His preaching. He preached exhaustively from every book in the Bible and all the topics always centred around the Glory and beauty of God. He said God is not someone just to be analysed and theorised about but His beauty deserves to be proclaimed from the pulpit and our lives.
C.S. Lewis had a similar revelation when he said a picture of a painting has nothing on the real painting and a painting has nothing on the thing that was portrayed.
In all our sermons, podcasts and blogs, let’s remember they have nothing on the real person of Jesus Christ. Let’s never be so good at talking about Jesus that we forget to just be with Jesus. Our saviour is beautiful and wonderful beyond description.
Much love from the maternity ward…

I haven’t read it yet. But I am sure it is good stuff, as my son is the author.
I will be back, but am on my way to preach the Gospel - in Norway, though I am Danish. And I am not Finnish or finished.
I am fit for fight - by the grace of God.
