Excited about the House
Posted by Hillsong | Filed under hillspowerhouse
In Ezra 3:10-13, the people of Israel start building the House of God, the restoration of the temple, and as they lay the foundation, there is a mixed response amongst the people. Some break out in praise and worship… If JD had been there, I’m sure he would have been swept up into the vortex.
And they were shouting with joy “For He is good, for His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” (v.11) They had never had a place of worship before so to them, even this foundation seemed great.
While they were praising, though, there were people weeping. They were the older people who had seen the first temple in all its glory, and when seeing this foundation, they were sad because it was the sin of the people that had brought them to this point.
While the situation they were in had come about because of the people’s disobedience, the older people had no right to despise the days of small beginnings for the new temple.
I see these people, who were singing and dancing, when only the foundation were laid, and ask myself; am I as passionate about the House of God as them? Have I become familiar with the House or am I still excited about every little thing, even when it doesn’t look like much?
God, may we be a generation that leads the way in passion for the House and never despise even the slightest and apparent small progress. May we live our lives to see your House be built for your Glory. Love you. Amen
