What Are You Known For?

In Genesis chapter 5 we see a genealogy of the sons of Adam. It’s so interesting to see that they were all described as have lived for so many years. One had lived 200 years, another 400 years but then we meet Enoch. When Enoch is described, he is described different, “Enoch walked with God three hundred years” (v.22) His life was defined by his relationship with his God. WOW! Not only that… Imagine walking with God for 300 years! I mean, I have walked with God on/off around 22 years and I feel like I know so much yet so little about God. Imagine walking with God for 300 years! Imagine what you would know of God. Imagine how tight you would be with God. It makes me wonder how many years we actually waste. Years we could have spent walking with God, we waste chasing empty stuff or give in to insecurities and our sinful nature.

God, redeem us that we will be a people that is known and our very lives are not defined by our gifts or talents or even our outcomes but by our relationship with You. May people not be able to talk about us without having to mention You because You are the beginning and the end of our lives. You are the very existence, sustainer and purpose of our lives. In You we move, we live and we have our being. I love you, Amen!

Much Love,
Thomas
