Meditate to Regurgitate
Posted by Hillsong | Filed under citypowerhouse, devotion, hillspowerhouse
I’m so excited about this season, we are in. Much can be said about revivals but they have all for certain come after a revival of prayer a devotion revival. Who knows what will happen, as we as a generation decide to chase after Jesus.
I was reading in the Psalms today and in Psalm 1 verse 2 it says, “but his (the righteous man or woman) delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.”
We live in a day and age, where you can jump on the internet or some software and immediately get answers and knowledge in a few minutes that it took other people a lifetime to gather. In this Psalm the Psalmist encourages us to meditate on the law, which for us is the word of God, the Bible. Psychologists say today, what the Bible has always known, that there is a link between what we think and say, with how we act and behave. Meditation is not just something that happens on a mountain somewhere in the Himalayas; meditation literally means, to speak quietly to oneself. It is for the Christian what food is for the cow that regurgitates. It brings it up again and again to suck all the nutrients and good stuff out of it.
When you find a passage in the Bible, pick one verse and just meditate on it again and again. Think about it. Speak it out loud to yourself. Ask questions like; what does it mean? Why does it say it like that? How should it affect me? And as you dig into the verse, you will find the treasures that are buried in the word of God.
Jesus, I pray as we become a generation that has the word of God in our hearts and minds and on our lips that we will become people that bear fruit, as our lives align themselves with your Word. May we stand out as Your word starts a transformation of our lives, from the inside out. Amen.
Bless ya,
Thomas
