What Do You Worship?
Posted by rae | Filed under citywildlife, devotion, hillswildlife, mcarthur
“Yes, they know God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks…..Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself” Romans 1:21-25
Isn’t this a crazy thought - that although we may know God we sometimes still choose to worship and serve the things that He makes! Its seems so silly and doesn’t make sense but often many of us put the things of this world before our awesome God. We choose to care too much about what people think of us, what clothes we are wearing, how much money and ’stuff’ we have and the list could go on and on.
I pray that we are a people that will truly give our God the honour He deserves and worship and serve Him as the Creator and put everything second to Him.

Matthew 13:17
“For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men have longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it”
Every time I read this portion of scripture it’s like a slap in the face with a fish! How awesome is this. We have the HUGE blessing of the complete word of God! We get to read about the miracles and journeys of Gods righteous AND of Jesus himself! To be taught by some of the greatest men and women of God to have ever walked the earth. All we have to do is take them time to read, learn and apply.
Lets never forget what we have access to; Centuries of wisdom! The words of Jesus himself! Epic!!!
Lord I pray we’ll always take advantage of the forefathers in the faith that have walked before us and learn from their mistakes and wins.

Signposts to Life

Acts 2:28
“You have made known to me the paths (ways) of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.”
I love that God doesn’t hide from us the ways of life. The pathway to life isn’t some cryptic, confusing maze that only those who are super spiritual can figure out. (Thank goodness!) This verse tells me (and you) that Jesus makes the ways of life known to us. He shows us, tells us, leads us and gives us clear instruction about how to live our lives so that we are living the way He created us to live… abundant, satisfying, overcoming, powerful, happy lives!!! We can learn the pathways of life through reading Gods word… the Bible… it couldn’t be simpler; it’s just like following a signpost.
Thank you Jesus that you don’t make it impossible for us to know you. Thank you that as we read your word and spend time in your presence you not only show us how to live our lives but you fill our hearts with your joy!

Storage Space

Matthew 12:35
“The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him”
It’s crazy, our eyes, our minds, our hearts, our lives are all vessels for storage; and what we allow ourselves to see, think, feel, touch, smell etc will eventually come out. It is so so important what we allow to be stored, because one day it will be called upon when we are running on empty and there is nothing else to give. You can only call upon what you have stored up.
Lets all endeavour to have our storage filled up with the truths of the word of God, so when the time comes to give out, we roll out the wisdom of our God!
Lord we want to be vessels for you; I pray that your words will be stored in my heart!
