Local Australians Rocket Up the Itunes Music Charts in US
It’s not Keith Urban or Kylie Minogue making waves across the pond; securing the Number Two spot yesterday and today on the Itunes most downloaded albums chart. Instead, coming in right behind mainstream rap artist Eminem sits local Gospel Music band, Hillsong UNITED.
Hillsong UNITED released their latest live worship album, ‘Tear Down the Walls’ yesterday in North America, at the start of their 11-city tour across the Eastern United States and Canada. And no one could have predicted the excitement to follow.
As members of their local church, Hillsong United have taken what is happening inside the walls of their local Sydney youth group and given a voice to a generation of young Christians rising up across the earth.
Last month the same album reached the Number Two spot on both the Australian and New Zealand Itunes charts, and through the Hillsong Church ‘One For Another’ initiative, every download is making a difference in the lives of individuals right here in local Australian communities.
So, what does a church with no walls look like?
“It looks like justice…not ignoring poverty or hunger… or the person next to me on the subway,” says UNITED frontman and Hillsong Church Creative Director, Joel Houston.
“We just want to make a difference.”
Since 1992, Hillsong Music has sold more than 11 million units worldwide, and worked hand in hand to reach out to those in need through One for Another. As we move forward as a church we are passionate about increasing our ability to creatively meet the real needs of humanity. Honouring God by loving one another as He loved us.
