Welcoming Refugees

CityCare is helping to assist with the settlement of refugees in Australia through provision of practical support. CityCare is mobilising our church to volunteer their time and/or contribute much-need items including non-perishable food and hygiene items, new household goods for kitchen and bedding packs, and gift vouchers for school shoes. 

We are partnering with key agencies in NSW, QLD and VIC including Settlement Services International and AMES, who provide settlement services for refugees and ensure this practical support is distributed efficiently and effectively. Volunteers are needed to help with the sorting, packing and delivery of these items. 

Our heart is to not only offer practical support but also social connection that will help refugees feel welcome in their new home. We provide free counselling services, family playgroups, personal development classes ShineGirl and ShineWomen, and free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. It is everyone’s responsibility to offer a measure of hope to those who have lost much and are trying to rebuild their lives. No part is too small, may our words and actions communicate the spirit of “Welcome Home”.
