Who We Are
Hillsong CityCare is the expression of the heart of our church in the local community, mobilising volunteers to serve through our programs, services and projects to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people living in in our own backyard.
We have been serving in schools, prisons, nursing homes, hospitals, shelters, detention centres, and in our local neighbourhoods over the past 20 years. The heart behind everything we do, is to see lives of individuals changed so they can lead and impact in every sphere of life. Our mission is to see families strengthened; young people pursue their dreams and vulnerable groups connected into community.
Our Programs and Services focus on mobilising our church to foster social inclusion and place value on people living in our community. We do this through Street Teams visitations into local neighbourhoods, nursing homes, homeless communities and shelters. Hillsong Youth Services helps to empower young people through mentoring, the String Movement to disarm bullying and Shine & Strength curriculum and Scripture Classes. We also provide a range of services to Prison and Detention Centre inmates and detainees to support them and their families. Playgroups help to connect parents and children in our community in the same season of life that otherwise have no form of social connection. In hard times people can access food assistance through our Emergency Relief program and in the Gold Coast we have CityCare Storehouse which provides heavily subsidised grocery items and free fruit and vegetables through local partnerships. We also offer free Counselling Services to many struggling with emotional and mental wellbeing but are unable to pay for the help they need. Our Annual Projects Kilo of Kindness food drive at Easter and the Stuff the Bus Christmas Appeal help us to mobilise the church to make a difference during seasons which tend to significantly impact families going through a tough time.
CityCare’s Homes of Peace transitional housing program has been one of our most recent initiatives in response to the prevalent issue of violence against women in Australia. The program offers housing and case management support for women and their children leaving domestic family violence situations. We provide a range of tailored services to help them re-establish their lives and take their next steps toward sustainable independent living.
These key initiatives and our ongoing services help us to impact lives beyond the walls of our church and stand as a beacon of hope in a world looking for answers.
