21 Moses assembled all the elders of Israel. He said, “Select a lamb for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb. 22 Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the bowl of blood and smear it on the lintel and on the two doorposts. No one is to leave the house until morning. 23 God will pass through to strike Egypt down. When he sees the blood on the lintel and the two door posts, God will pass over the doorway; he won’t let the destroyer enter your house to strike you down with ruin. 24 “Keep this word. It’s the law for you and your children, forever.
The Passover was to be consumed inside the house, with the blood over the lintel and both door posts. This was the only way to escape the coming destruction.
Egypt was going to be judged for all it's false gods.
The Passover was God's plan to save Israel but what is very interesting is the inclusion of any immigrant or slave. They only had to be circumcised, to show that they are not like the other nations but are now part of the family of promise.
Bring this all into the New Testament and we have:
1. The Lamb
Jesus has now become the perfect sacrifice for sins, dying once for all mankind.
2. The House
The body of Christ is the Church that Jesus is building and His house is where His followers gather regularly to worship Him and love one another.
3. The circumcision
This is now an inward change of the heart by God's spirit. A cutting away of the spirit of the world.
There is a subtle move amongst some Christians today who are a little too self reliant, growing tired of church leadership and blurring the lines of Bible fellowship with contemporary get togethers, to do it differently.
Can I encourage you — no matter how hard it gets, who it is that offends you, what it is that should be done better… STAY IN THE HOUSE!
