What a great promise and hope we have in knowing that God is above all circumstance and that regardless of our lot in life, we can be steadfast knowing our soul has an eternal purpose and destination.

This week we were blessed to receive two letters of commendation from both the Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh, and the Opposition Leader, John-Paul Langbroek; thanking Hillsong Church for supporting both the Premiers Appeal and clean up initiative, after the floods in Brisbane. I was even told that Mrs Bligh listened to the Hillsong Music recording in her office before ‘penning’ this letter!

To the Premier of Queensland and all of the government officials, church leaders and community workers who continue their tireless efforts to restore devastated communities; our church and our nation applauds your courage and our continued prayers are with you. And to the incredible churches and international ministries who have partnered with Hillsong and contributed to this appeal, we are so very grateful for your friendship and support.

On behalf of the people of Queensland, I extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone at Hillsong for your compassionate support during our darkest of days.

They say music soothes the soul and you are proving this so.

I am touched that you took the initiative to record and release for sale your own version of the hymn, “It is well with my Soul”. It was an amazing feat, and a real credit to you, that the entire process took only three days.

Proceeds will now help to restore the homes and lives of those who have lost so much, and the song itself reiterates that the one thing we must never lose is hope.
