They say that a milestone marks a strategic point in the journey – and this weekend as a church, we celebrated a new milestone marking 30 years, three decades and nearly 11,000 days together.

Those numbers represent a whole lot of life together – and Brian and I would like to take the opportunity to thank every man, woman, child and young person within our church who has played a part in this journey together.

This past weekend was wonderful as we took time to reflect, remember and honour the goodness of God in our lives, city and nation. We’ve gathered some images and included some links so that you can keep it also as a memory and keepsake.

We heard a story from Sunday night of a woman who came for the first time to our SW campus. Apparently she had never been to church before and as she watched the night and celebrations unfold, all she could say was, “it’s beautiful, it’s beautiful, everything about this place is beautiful”. And it was a beautiful night, exactly what Brian had in mind when he asked that the night reflect “the great people” in our church and some of their journey.

So once again, we love you church. You are the best people on the planet and our greatest joy. Amid a world that is becoming increasingly expansive, “home is always the prize” and you need never doubt that you have our undivided heart. And for anyone reading or wondering, “can anyone go to that church?” – the answer is yes. The door is always open and the welcome mat is always out.

In the Old Testament, The Bible says that God knows the thoughts and the plans that he has for us – plans for GOOD and not evil, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29). All it takes is a step. A step towards Him, a step that allows your heart to open – and when you do, it’s enough to give Him something to work with.

So to (Hillsong) friends and family, God has led us faithfully thus far, and I am confident that He is well able to lead us confidently into the future. So take heart, lean in, look up, keep pressing onwards… and let’s activate our faith and belief, excitement and anticipation for all that lies ahead. HASHTAG: THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!
