YOU ARE, YOU ARE
YOU ARE MY FREEDOM
(Alive)

What do you think of when you hear the word ‘freedom’?

A lot of the time, when we think of the word freedom, we think of things like a wild horses running – without harnesses – on the side of a mountain, or dolphins jumping in the ocean. When we think of freedom we might even think of a small child running and dancing on the beach.

Those things are great pictures of freedom, but the freedom we have found in Christ goes a lot deeper than these kind of images.

Matthew 11:28-30 in the message says “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Have you ever had a pair of jeans that fit just right? There is nothing better than the perfect fit. A life with God is a perfect fit. Like the bible says ‘it is not heavy or ill-fitting on you”. When we accept Jesus, we leave our old life behind and step into a life that never ends – we’re not bound to our past, to the sin that has held us back, instead we’re now truly alive, a life that will go on forever…. Now we’re to live accordingly.

Take a moment today to pray and ask God what He wants you to think about when you hear or read the word ‘freedom’. Maybe even write a list of what freedom in Christ can look like for you. Think about Galatians 5:1 in the message where it says “Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you”… how good is God our freedom?!
