Y&F Day 40

Nov 28 2013

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (MSG)

God is on a mission.

He wants everything that was created by His hand to be in a loving relationship with Him in total unity… to be “baptised” into Him in the way that we leave our selfish ways behind and rise up to live empowered by the life Jesus gave us.

“Why?” you ask.

Good question.

It’s because Jesus is the answer to the mess in our world.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that chaos & brokenness is apparent all around us. He could wave His hand and end world hunger, or snap his fingers and sickness would no longer exist. He could totally MAKE everyone in the world have no choice other than to believe in Him – after all He is THE Creator of the galaxies, THE big boss that makes rainfall and the trees grow. But that would make us robots, and there would be no love in the mix.

In the same way that God offered us the choice to accept His salvation gift through Jesus Christ or not, He has also written us an invitation through His Word to help others find life in Him.

This is why the Bible says Jesus is “commissioning” us; in its origin this means to be joint or mutual, to complement or to work together with another to achieve a goal or purpose. What we see here is God inviting us to work with Him in achieving His mission on the Earth.

It’s kind of exciting isn’t it?

Almost like a James Bond moment minus the collared shirt & slick hair.

No 🙂 this is better – this is real life.

Your mission should, you choose to accept it –

Go into your world and show them Jesus by the life that you live.

If we all did this, there’s nothing stopping all the Earth from seeing how incredible He really is!
