Jesus was fully man and yet fully God. Heaven and earth converge in the person of Jesus. Sent from heaven to bring life, He demonstrated the unconditional love of God and reconciled us with God the Father.
In Matthew 6:9, Jesus taught us to pray that the Father’s Kingdom and perfect will would be done, here on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus embodied this prayer. Who Jesus was and what He did provides the clearest picture that we have of what heaven on earth actually looks like.
In Luke 4:18, while in the temple, Jesus unrolled the scroll, reading Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners”.
In Jesus’ name alone, we have freedom, healing, forgiveness of sin, and eternal life. Through Jesus, Heaven and Earth have collided.
