Many of you were a part of getting behind Tembaletu School a few years back. As a global church we were able to bless this school for learners with disabilities with a beautiful, state of the art dormitory facility called “Hillsong House”, where 42 of the most vulnerable learners could stay during the week. The impact has been incredible; the Hillsong House learners have a 100% pass rate and have been loving the care and support through this project.
In July 2013, after two years of covering the 9 permanent care staff and running cost of the dormitory we handed the facility over to the Provincial Education Department who is now carrying the cost. This has freed us up to pioneer again. After consultation with the school and the local community we were asked if we could assist the school with a disability friendly school hall, as the learners have very little space for activities and assemblies.
Thanks to many of you who contributed to Heart for the House in 2014 we were able, in partnership with a few local partners to build a beautiful community/school hall that includes a few extra classrooms as well. During the week the facility is used for the learners of Tembaletu School, in the evenings we’ll be able to run various upliftment programs for the local community and on Sundays and Friday Nights this hall now houses the most recent room of our House in SA, Hillsong Gugulethu!
It is beautiful to see how God is putting the puzzle pieces together, how He is building His house, brick by brick, stone by stone, and he is using us all to build it! I know that as Hillsong in South Africa we’re not just here to build a great church, we are here to help build the nation! This means we have to love unconditionally, raise up leaders from all walks of life and always bring the unchanging message of hope and restoration through the Gospel of Jesus!
We are more committed than ever to roll up our sleeves and dig in, committed to the lost and broken, committed to the next generation and committed to building His church!
Thank you for all you prayers, support and encouragement, never underestimate the part that you play in making a difference!
Love,
Phil and Lucinda
