UPDATED: 4 MARCH 2015
In light of this week’s devastating fires in Cape Town, we would like to stand together as a church and assist with the needs of those who have been displaced, as well as “give back” to the hundreds of fire fighters and chopper pilots who have been tirelessly working to protect homes and people from the fires.
Here are 2 ways you can help:
1. As there is now an overflow of supplies at the relief centres, it seems that snacks and food items are not the top priority.
Here are the current needs:
* Lip ice
* Eye drops
* Throat lozenges
* Energy drinks (Powerade, Energade)
* AA/AAA batteries
You can either drop one of these items off at church or you can give a financial donation online, which we will use to put together gift hampers for the fire fighters.
2. As of 4th of March, 13 homes have been reported to have burnt down and the families displaced. (+ Noordhoek has now been declared a disaster zone).
If you would like to help these families rebuild their homes and lives, please bring one of the following store vouchers to church (Mr Price Home, Woolworths, Pick ‘N Pay) and we will distribute it to the families affected.
All items and donations can be brought to Reception at our Century City campus throughout the week or any Hillsong Africa Foundation desks in our church foyers on Sunday.
Thank you for your generosity! Let’s be praying that the fires will stop, for the people affected, and for those who are putting their lives on the line in the rescue efforts.
