“Comfort, Comfort my people, says your God.” Isaiah 40.1
Nepal is a country known for its breathtaking mountains, its sweeping valleys and its beautiful people. And today, Nepal needs our attention.
Since the cities of Pokhara and Kathmandu were struck with a devastating earthquake, our team has been liaising with friends, colleagues, pastors and relief organisations in an effort to strategise how we can best help the people of this region. Thousands of Nepal’s citizens have lost their lives and countless others are injured or displaced in the aftermath of this natural disaster.
Through a longstanding partnership with ACCI Relief we have connections to an extensive local church network operating in these regions. Pastors and congregations are doing tireless work to relieve immediate need in the areas most affected, by providing emergency supplies – food, water, tents, clothes and basic medical needs.
Our ongoing partnership with World Vision Australia will also be key in the long term and ongoing efforts of our fundraising. Their ability to distribute supplies and their expertise in disaster management have played a key role in bringing hope and help to those most desperate.
Without any hesitation, I am asking our entire church and network to be generous in their response. It is times like these when the Church must lead the way with an open-handed, compassionate and unified effort to bring comfort to those who are hurting.
This weekend across all services at Hillsong Church we will be receiving an offering towards Earthquake Relief Efforts in Nepal. Every dollar will be thoughtfully spent in partnership with ACCI Relief and World Vision Australia, reaching those who need it the most. If you are unable to be with us, or would like to participate straight away, our team has enabled online giving for this appeal – please click here.
Our God is gracious and compassionate, His heart is towards His people and ours should be also.
Pray for this nation – healing, help and hope.
With love,
Brian
