We’ve driven down from Brisbane to conference for the last four years and in 2013 there was this precious moment when I took Daniel (our two year old) to collect his sister Jodie (seven years old) from Kidsong. As we were heading back to the arena to meet up with mummy and Sophie (our nine year old) I felt God ask me to intentionally stand back from Jodie and Daniel and simply watch them walking off ahead. In that moment I took this picture. As I did, there was a sense in my heart of being prepared, as a dad, for the time when my children will walk as adults. And God impressed on my heart, the precious task of playing my part so that my kids will hold on to God and His promises when they are no longer kids, but grown-ups navigating the seasons of life. And one of the joys of conference I especially love is seeing families who bring their children in the school holidays down to Sydney so that the family can worship and praise God and celebrate his glorious local church.
Psalms 25:4-5 (NIV)
4 Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; 5 guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
