It’s amazing how you can sit in room with 1000’s of people and feel like God is speaking directly to you.

I remember that happening to me as I sat in the Arena at Hillsong Conference 2007 and God stirred my heart for a dream that would soon become a reality, planting a church in a city far from where I currently lived with my family….

At the beginning of 2007, my wife Lucinda and I felt the calling of God when Pastor Brian announced that Hillsong Church would be launching in Cape Town. By the time Hillsong Conference arrived in July we were at the point of working out how this church plant might look, there was a fixture of fear & excitement in our hearts.

That year at Hillsong Conference we had the privilege of listening to Bishop TD Jakes, who spoke a message that absolutely confirmed many of the promises God had placed in our hearts. We felt like God was speaking directly to us, to our future, to the church he had called us to establish in South Africa. So many other moments through that week strengthened our faith & resolve for what we were called to do…embark on the biggest adventure of our lives!

Now eight years on we are blown by all that God has done, building His Church and seeing people meet JESUS. I’m already looking forward to what God will speak into our hearts this year.
