“We are totally overwhelmed at the kindness shown to our women by the Colour Sisterhood.”
Moreen, Senior Caseworker, Mt Druitt Family Violence Service

It might seem strange for us to ask each girl coming to Colour to bring a gift with her, but as many of you know, the heartbeat of the Sisterhood movement is to stand alongside hurting humanity both near and far. We want to ensure that whenever we gather in strength, the city we gather in benefits from that gathering. This is the premise of our local impact response each year and each year we choose a need that is important for the city or country the conference is hosted in.

This year we decided that the issue of domestic violence was something that we should actually approach as a collective force and for each of our conferences, from Sydney and Cape Town, to London and Kiev we focused on the issue of domestic violence in some way.

The incredible news is that as a combined force of women we were able to collect over 17,000 Items for domestic violence shelters in 4 cities across the world including donations for Kiev from our London conference who partnered with the Kiev Sisterhood to be a blessing to their community. In Cape Town we also launched an exciting new initiative called “I will walk with you” which is a simple awareness campaign to help bring awareness and solution to the issue of domestic violence in South Africa where the statistics suggest that one women every 8 hours is killed by a current or former intimate partner.

Although the issue might look different in each country, the core problem remains the same and we are passionate about women getting the help that they need to escape violence and find a safe space for themselves and their family.

Thank you to all of the amazing girls who came to Colour 2015 with their gift. Our local girls have been packing the hampers up in all of our locations and we have received some beautiful thank you’s so far from the agencies and shelters that we have been able to deliver gifts to! As always we give these gifts as the greater Colour Sisterhood. Let’s believe for miracles and hope to accompany each of these gifts! THANK YOU!

“I wanted to say thank you so much to those who contributed to the beautiful boxes of gifts for the women and children in our service.”
