I love this story, because Jesus has taken Peter, James, and John with him up this mountain – these three ordinary guys who lived life with Him day in and day out. Jesus was their friend, and they knew Him, yet on this day He revealed Himself in a new way to them. There they saw the holiness of their Friend.

This scriptural account of the transfiguration conveys the paradoxical yet awe-inspiring revelation that we are invited daily to discover the Most Holy in the most intimate of settings — as worshippers, disciples and friends. What a wonder that no matter how long we have walked with the Lord, there is always more of Him to know.
