Love Makes A Way At Easter

Apr 12 2016

Thank you church for your great generosity, in giving towards our Kilo of Kindness food drive this Easter.

We received 56,396 items amounting to 27,436 Kilos of Kindness over this year’s Cross Equals Love Campaign.

It is estimated that 2.5 million Australians rely on food relief of which over 600,000 are children. It’s hard to imagine that in our own backyard there are children going to bed hungry or to school without a packed lunch.

The scriptures encourage us to be generous, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,” (Matthew 25:35)

Our heart behind Kilo of Kindness is to show the practical love of Christ to the many people living in our cities who need to know they are not alone.

On Easter Saturday our Street Teams also hosted BBQs and Easter egg hunts for local residents in some of the areas we visit. Every Saturday our volunteers faithfully visit many neighbourhoods across all our locations, offering practical help, chatting to people, and building friendships.

Distributions of food packs have already begun. We deliver these through various local agencies we work with to help families we know who are struggling. People also come to us for assistance at our CityCare Emergency Relief Food Storehouses.

As families receive their food packs the overwhelming response has been “Thank you so much, these are things we needed, how did you know?”

In Darwin, State Director of Mission Australia, Darren Young was amazed at the amount of food brought in, saying “we can’t even begin to explain the difference this makes to so many people”.

We are so grateful to all of you who generously donated multiple bags of food. It has been the most successful Kilo of Kindness campaign we have ever had. Once again we would like to say thank you for your kind contribution. And finally thanks to all our amazing volunteers across Australia who tirelessly gave of their time to help us run this campaign.

Lives are being impacted because you choose to care.
