Hillsong Conference is always such a special time of the year. There is nothing like when the Church gathers to worship God and it is extra special when people come from all over the world to be in one place together.

One of my favourite moments from Conference last year was the session when Joel Houston spoke about “the heart” and what God is truly looking for. He spoke so openly about his own story and as he did, I knew that God was speaking to me through it all. His message was based around Psalm 51:16-17 which says;

“Going through the motions doesn’t please you, a flawless performance is nothing to you. I learned God-worship when my pride was shattered. Heart-shattered lives ready for love don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.”

Joel shared about how God is not looking for our perfection in this life. He has never asked us to put on an act for Him. He has only asked that we come as we are. These thoughts were concepts that I had heard before, but there was something about that day and the way Joel spoke that helped me understand them in a new light. For whatever reason, that session took me by surprise and God spoke straight to my heart.

I am so thankful for everything that God does through Hillsong Conference every single year. It’s often in the little, unsuspecting moments that something is said and God uses it to draw us closer to Him. I am so looking forward to this year and am praying that every person will have their own personal God moment that leaves them loving Him more.
