Thank you for giving so generously to the World Vision Syria Crisis Appeal.
As a Church you have generously given over $224,000+. This will go a long way in providing life-saving support for refugees who have fled the conflict in Syria.
The numbers are staggering. 4.8 million Syrians have fled. 6.5 million are internally displaced and 13.5 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. They aren’t just numbers. They are people. People with names, families, fears, and hopes. As our Pastor Bobbie Houston has encouraged us, “Bend low. Weep with those who weep. Choose empathy.” Thank you for choosing empathy and taking action.
In September 2016 alone, World Vision helped 900,000 people through the Syria Response across the region in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey where the majority of refugees are currently hosted.
In a context that is complex and potentially overwhelming there are some simple and very tangible realities. For displaced families, living conditions are harsh and it is a struggle to access adequate food, clean water, shelter, education, or healthcare. World Vision’s multi sector response covers these areas and also focuses on the creation of Child Friendly Spaces to give children a safe space to learn, play and receive psychosocial support. THANK YOU for your contribution to these efforts!
As a Church we stay committed to responding to the global refugee response in varied and locally relevant ways. We pray for peace in Syria (#middaybabymidday) and we continue to seek practical ways to respond in each of our global locations.
