Partnership with the Holy Spirit

Let us continue on this journey of getting to know more about the Holy Spirit.

Paul writes to the Corinthians and tells them how to live effective lives. His very last words to the Corinthians are written in his second letter to them, wherein he highlights each of the persons in the Godhead and their role in our lives: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship (communion) of the Holy Spirit, be with you all”. 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NLT)

Communion in Greek; ‘koinonia’, has 3 major definitions; 1: Fellowship, 2: Partnership, and 3: Intimacy.

Let’s talk about partnership.

In the beginning, developing a partnership can be a bit awkward but in time it develops into a natural flow. You get to know each other, you share ideas and strategies with each other and you realise that you are better off with a partner.

I just recently started working for my husband. We have never really argued before but as buisness partners we do. We need time, and more time, to develop our relationship into a partnership.

In the Old Testament, God and Abraham spoke about Sodomah and Gomora. God wanted to destory the cities but Abraham asked for God to be merciful on his nephew Lot, who lived there. God changed His mind because of what His partner Abraham said, and He answered his request (Genesis 19).

Paul writes: we are fellow workers for, and with God (Acts 15:28). That is the essence of partnership: to be fellow workers. This partnership is what we were created for. Jesus said that He is going to be continually in us and with us.

“It is better for you that I go away. If I don’t go away, the Holy Spirit is not going to come… He will guide you into all truth”. John 16:7 & 13

This partnership needs your attention. If His presence is not manifesting in your life, perhaps you have not yet learnt to recognise His voice. But if we acknowledge Him, He will be around us, and be our partner.
