Pray at All Times
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18
The apostle Paul writes that we should pray in the Spirit at all times. The essence of prayer is to be in connection and dialogue with our Heavenly Father and here we are told it is not limited to a certain time. In other words, there is never a moment when it is inappropriate to pray to God!
The psalmist poetically put it like this: “He who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps” (Psalm 121:4). Think about this for a moment, because it is truly incredible. God is never asleep on the job but is always listening, ready to hear your prayers. How often do we take this for granted?
Imagine this: you find yourself in a situation, perhaps feeling frustrated or worried, and you think to yourself: “I’d like to give this to God and pray about it.” But you look at the clock and see there are still another few hours before God’s shift starts, so you just have to keep those prayers inside until the time is right. It seems absurd right? It’s almost unimaginable because the truth is that we have a loving Father who is always ready to hear our prayers and to listen to us.
The beauty of the combination of being able to pray about all things, at all times, reflects just how passionate God is about being in a relationship with you. No matter the time, no matter the subject, we can always come to the Father.
