Nelson Mandela said, “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Vision Rescue wholeheartedly believe in the power of education. Their mission is to free children from all forms of exploitation by engaging and sustaining in education, which empowers them to change mindsets and make good life choices that promote intergenerational transformation.
As a church we continue to stand with Vision Rescue as they seek to outwork this mission and your giving to the Hillsong Foundation in 2016 enabled great things to happen.
The Vision Rescue non-formal education bus program reached 2,153 children and a record 497 children were enrolled into formal education. The team have been reflecting, planning, and strategically looking at ways to consolidate and increase their effectiveness and impact moving forward.
Relationships have been deepened with communities and hundreds of households surveyed to better understand the barriers to children accessing education. This is informing the development of a community-based and household-focused approach that involves establishing a more consistent presence within communities, mobilizing teams of local volunteers, and modifying and focusing Vision Rescue’s range of activities.
A foundation is being built that will enable Vision Rescue to significantly expand their reach and facilitate sustainable change – to see more children access formal education and open up possibilities for their future!
We’re celebrating the great work that has been happening through Vision Rescue in Mumbai and we’re looking ahead with excitement.
Here is just a small snapshot of the lives being reached through Vision Rescue’s work, made possible because of your faithful generosity through the Hillsong Foundation and Heart For The House.
