Sisterhood 8-Day Devotional - Day 3

‘“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’ (Isaiah 55:8–9, NLT).

‘Let go and let God.’ As Christians, we have all used this phrase to encourage one another. It’s easy to say it until you’re in a situation that is beyond your control – like when you’re in a waiting season and believing for a breakthrough. Maybe you’re believing for a husband, a baby, a job, healing.

I’ve learned, in my own eight-year infertility journey, that letting go is not quite that easy. We want to trust God fully. But, on the other hand, I think, we often also want to box God in and control the way He brings the miracle. We want our miracles to look a certain way, our way. Maybe because we don’t always fully understand that God is GOOD, and FOR US, and that HE LOVES US and wants only HIS BEST FOR US.

I’ve wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember. And I always thought that God’s breakthrough in my life would look a certain way – that I would miraculously fall pregnant.

Yet motherhood came to me in a very different way. It came to me GOD’S WAY. Today, I’m sitting here watching my six-month-old baby trying to figure out how to crawl. He came into our lives just over three months ago through adoption. Nothing under the sun could have prepared me for the love I have for him. He is my VERY OWN as much if I’d given birth to him myself. He is not God’s Plan B for our lives. He is God’s very best PLAN A for our lives. And I can declare that God and His ways can be trusted.

Maybe you find yourself in a situation where you’re struggling to fully surrender something to God and to trust Him with it. Maybe you’re feeling the pressure, seeing everyone else getting their breakthroughs in the timeline you thought you’d get yours. Maybe you find yourself feeling a little broken, tired, hopeless and doubting today. As a SISTERHOOD, we are continuously praying for you and believing God to do the MIRACULOUS in your life!

Here are THREE things I have come to know about God and His way. I hope you’re encouraged to trust God with all your heart:

  1. God’s way is HIGHER than our way. He looks at our lives from His perspective. The way He works might look completely different from what you expected. But it will always be what is BEST for you!
  2. God’s way is LIFE-GIVING. When God’s breakthrough comes, it will not only bring you joy and life in abundance, but ever tear you cried, all the brokenness you felt in the waiting, will disappear in the light of God’s blessing.
  3. God’s way is always FOR A BIGGER PURPOSE. There are people who are looking at your life. As they witness you trusting God and receiving your breakthrough HIS WAY, they will be drawn to Jesus and find salvation.

ACTION: In which area of your life do you need to let go of ‘your idea’ and trust God for His best?
