Preemptive Love Coalition: Abeer's Story

Mar 6 2018

Abeer and her four-year-old daughter Taleen, have struggled to survive since they were forced to leave Syria during the brutal civil war. Even though she has a college degree, Abeer could not find work to provide for her daughter until an empowerment grant from Preemptive Love Coalition helped her buy a sewing machine and materials to start a new business and a new life.

Women and men fleeing war-torn cities are eager to work and rebuild their lives and business grants can provide unique opportunities for them to do so. To date, refugees engaged in a soap-making business supported by Preemptive Love Coalition in Iraq have produced thousands of bars of pure, olive oil soap. They are provided with ongoing support through mentoring in their first months of production, sales, and distribution. Their soap is also purchased for emergency hygiene kits that are delivered to families affected by conflict. The soap not only supports refugees to generate income, it also protects other refugees from disease and keeps the money within Iraq, building the local economy.

As a Colour Sisterhood, we partner with Preemptive Love Coalition as one expression of our focus on vulnerable NATIONS in our world; nations where we desire to see God’s love, restoration and wholeness experienced by every person. As a Sisterhood we are helping to provide emergency relief and empowering local families through small business.
