The Hillsong Sisterhood in Denmark identified a need in their local community through the church’s CityCare Street Teams seeking to reach people experiencing homelessness. Life on the street for women includes the monthly challenge of dealing with their menstrual cycle. The needed sanitary products are rather expensive in Denmark, but without them a woman might be forced to choose between food and dignity.
Every time we gather as a Sisterhood we seek to be a blessing to our community, using our collective strength to bring light, hope and practical help to vulnerable people in our city. In 2017, for our Sisterhood United Night we encouraged the girls to bring along sanitary items, in the hope that women experiencing homelessness could maintain a sense of dignity.
We received enough items to beautifully and discreetly wrap 300 packages to be distributed throughout 2018 by CityCare teams and Sisterhood ‘Be The Change’ teams.
We may not be able to do everything, but we can do something. What needs are there in your local community that you could respond to as a group?
