Hillsong Conference 2018: Day 4

Visually stunning, this morning’s worship theme is HYMNS. The big focus is choir with rich harmonies filling the arena; traditional sounds of anthems with a fresh spin. It was truly inspirational with a powerful impact.

As singer-songwriter and worship leader Brooke Ligertwood sat at a piano centre stage performing her prayer song ‘New Wine’. This led into a special moment around Pastor Brian Houston’s latest best-selling book, ‘THERE IS MORE’.

John Gray segued singing hymns from his childhood as the crowd joined his refrains. John went to another level of raw and passionate preaching in his message, “Run to Worship” as he engaged the audience in a new revelation of true worship, demonstrating how our personal worship affects the generations. “Worship is not a sound, it’s a substance, and what you do at your lowest will reveal what you’ll do at your highest” he announced. “How would you praise if you were one praise away from your whole life changing?” he challenged.

During today’s LET’S TALK CHURCH interview with Steve Furtick, Pastor Brian asked candid questions about Steve’s family and ministry journey. Concerning the tough times, Steve said, “I wouldn’t choose it, but I wouldn’t change it.”

LOCAL LEGENDS session introduced Hillsong favourite Donna Crouch. Donna eloquently compared what love means in the world with the love of God. From her foundation text, John 3:16, she issued a challenge to the church to take back the definition of love.

Through the afternoon, a plethora of breakout sessions were underway, including a powerful worship session with Chris Tomlin, Masterclass on Church growth with Chris Hodges.

Taking an up close and personal look at the faces in the crowd, a group of delegates from Leichhardt who were seated behind the stage on opening night were feeling disappointed and upset, but through the consistent demonstration of love, generosity and thoughtfulness of the seating team, they began to relax and refocus on the blessings they were experiencing. “This has turned out to be the best conference experience we have ever had” they said with gratitude. Another brother and sister from Brazil were gifted with their registrations and flights to conference and are so overwhelmed by what they have found here that they want to volunteer in 2019.

The time had come for the final session of Hillsong Conference 2018 in Sydney! The night kicked off with powerful worship from our Hillsong Worship team. Then Steven Furtick preached for the last time about being empty vessels, and that we are “filled so that we can be poured out”! An incredible message to go home with in our hearts. Then Pastors Brian and Bobbie thanked everyone for an unforgettable week and prayed over us before we went home, but there was still one last moment to come before we left. A choir filled the stage and the entire arena joined together in the stunning chorus of “Amazing Grace”. That was supposed to be it, but moments after nobody had left their seats! Brooke Ligertwood came back on stage and exclaimed “You’re still here!”. We finished off the night and the week in the best way possible, a praise party!

That’s it for this year, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned this week for sure it’s that THERE IS MORE!

See you next year.
