Day 8: Together We Are Better

Mar 30 2020

How wonderful and pleasant it is when BROTHERS LIVE TOGETHER IN HARMONY! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. AND THERE THE LORD HAS PRONOUNCED HIS BLESSING, even life everlasting. Psalm 133:1-3 (NLT)

There are a number of stages to a crisis, and the current pandemic is no exception. Generally, in the earliest phases, there is a tremendous sense of rallying together but soon after, the blame game begins.

There is no more important time for humanity to be unified than in times like these. Blessing is the fruit of harmony, according to Psalm 133.

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2) occurred when people were gathered together in one accord. The Holy Spirit is evident where and when people are in one accord and undoubtedly, discord causes people to feel estranged from the peace of the Holy Spirit. In other words, harmony and unity are of utmost importance.

Thank God for the unity we enjoy at Hillsong Church. We would not have been graced with so much blessing and favour without a collective willingness to die to self and a commitment to loving each other and gathering together under one Name – JESUS!

This is the time for churches around the globe to let go of their differences and stand united. It’s a time for world leaders to unite around the common goal of tackling this evil virus and doing all they can to unite the nations they lead. Instead of pointing fingers of blame, now is the time to rise in faith, advance forward and believe God for wisdom and breakthrough.

In our own families, let’s put aside our differences and draw even closer together in harmony. My prayer for our wonderful church, and the greater Church of Jesus Christ around the globe, is that we will come through these difficult days closer to each other, and most significantly, closer to the Holy Spirit than ever before. Together we are better.

The Apostle Paul says it best in Ephesians 4:1-6 (NLT),

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.

Stay in faith, the BEST is yet to come.
