Reflections on WCC with David Ware

Remember me? Don’t remember me? Either way it’s fine! If you don’t know who I am – allow me to introduce myself to you. My name is David Ware. As well as being one of the creative pastors here, I am one of the many creatives who call Hillsong Church home, and WCC is what I consider to be MY conference. What do I mean, you ask?

Well, I would have to take you back to 2017 at the second WCC where our Senior Pastor, Brian Houston, spoke a message that would challenge and stir me in such a way that would leave me marked forever. The title: ‘Live Dogs & Dead Lions’. I know right?!?! What kind of title or message is that for a creative conference or community?!?! Well, let me explain it to you; it might just be more relevant than you would expect.

The deep-seated revelation that stirred me from this seemingly random message was simple but profound. No matter who you are, where you are, what you’ve faced or how you are dealing with it currently, the truth and reality is that you are ALIVE, you are HERE, and NOW is a moment that you can grab a hold of to do something with what God has given you!You see, I come from humble origins; I never expected to be anyone significant, nor did I ever really strive to be, and though I have had the opportunity to lead thousands of people in worship all over the world, I have always come to places in my life where I have been more than willing to throw in the towel for different reasons—be it weariness, insecurity, uncertainty or just plain comfort and convenience.

BUT HERE’S THE THING! I’m alive! And if you are reading this, then so are YOU.

And, no matter where you find yourself in life, there’s a truth: God has given you everything you need to grab a hold of this moment and put your hand to whatever it is He’s entrusted you with in this season. Like it says in Ephesians 1:3, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.”

This is why WCC is my conference! The worship, the co-labs, the teaching and exhortation and, more importantly, the encounters with God that have left us breathless, all lead to us being better equipped to pick up our ‘ARROWS’  and aim it straight at God’s bullseye to accomplish what God has put us on this earth to do!

Don’t let this season distract you from seizing this moment to gather online, and continue that journey with us. Decide in your heart that while we are still alive and still here, we still have so much to accomplish!

See you at WCC!
