“My advice would be find a local church, pour your life into it, and you’ll never be the same again.” – Pastor Brian Houston
With 16 worship albums and years of worldwide tours under its belt, Hillsong United has had a spiritual impact that is almost impossible to measure. However, despite its popular records and talented musicians, Hillsong United’s global influence would not exist without its connection to a local church.
With groups and ministries like Hillsong United, Hillsong Church has influenced hundreds of thousands of lives with the gospel since it first opened its doors in 1983. Still, as Pastor Brian Houston has been known to say, “Hillsong Church is not built on the gifts and talents of a few, but on the sacrifices of many.” This is true of not only Hillsong Church, but also countless local churches around the world.
When we talk about the church, we’re talking about more than a building or the leaders that work in it. We’re talking about a local communities all around the globe ushering the kingdom of God into the farthest reaches of the world. Simply put, local churches are places where we can find and invite people Home.
We were never meant to go through life alone. In fact, we’re better together. When we plug into a local church, we contribute to something bigger than ourselves—all the while, building up and encouraging one another.
- How is attending a worship night different to being part of a local church?
- How has the local church blessed and built your life personally?
- How are you contributing to your local church? What do you bring that can make it an even more welcoming and empowering family?
Father, thank you for your Church. I pray you give me a heart for my local church and for local churches everywhere. Help me help others find themselves planted and growing in your Church. Amen.
