DAY 1: Deepen the Mystery of Christ Within You

“This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it’s out in the open. God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple.”  Colossians 1:26-27 (MSG)

All of Scripture speaks to the pursuit of meaning and purpose. Despite the Apostle Paul’s imprisonment, he allowed his confinement to cultivate truth in his heart to become profound revelation, which has become the voice of God’s Spirit to us through his letters. Paul understood that it was knowledge of the Truth that sets us free, not a set of circumstances.

The mystery is Christ Himself in you. Colossians 2:3 says, “All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else” (MSG). Since He dwells within you, take time aside in His presence, embracing the truth of His Word and allow all He is to transform you into His image and likeness. “There is no other Message – just this one. Every creature under heaven gets this same Message.” Paul declared himself a messenger of this Message (see Colossians 1:23 MSG).

At our church, we sing a song called, Another in the Fire (Hillsong United). Whenever we sing this I am reminded that sometimes we must go through some form of ‘fire’ in our lives to actually understand the power of its message. If you are going through a ‘fire’ right now, remember Christ is the one who is in the fire with you, and His faithfulness and His goodness means that He is completely committed to you, come what may.

Colossians 1:15 in the Message Bible says, “We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen.” My prayer is that the Christ who is within you, who does not change, who personifies the mercy, kindness and grace of the God, who made the invisible God visible, will be seen in you.
