During this season, it is important to look after your wellbeing, physically and spiritually. We have included some easy ways to practice self-care and maintain healthy wellbeing.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF
Find moments to do things you enjoy and fill your soul.
PRACTICE HEALTHY THINKING
Take a moment each day to mindfully thank God for something positive in your day. One idea is to start a gratitude journal.
PRIORITISE TIME IN THE WORD OF GOD
Take a break from the news and fill your mind with scripture. The YouVersion app has thousands of daily devotionals. We have also made a list of scriptures you can speak over yourself and your family.
REST, RELAXATION AND SLEEP
Good sleep helps your “executive function” – a set of abilities we need to think clearly and make decisions.
STAY IN COMMUNITY
Even when social distancing, make sure you stay in touch with friends via SMS, WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, or even a good old fashioned phone call. Remember to gather together online for church on weekends.
FIND TIME TO PRAY
Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you and your home.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14 (NIV)
STAY ACTIVE AND EAT HEALTHY
Good nutrition and being active is important for maintaining self-care. Prioritise nutritious food over unhealthy options and consider how you can exercise in your home or backyard.
“…keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honourable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.”
Philippians 4:8 [TPT]
