Check out 9 Things Kids Need to Know About “Who They Are in Christ”.

History is littered with people groups and nations that have faded into memory. The ancient Mayans created flourishing cities in what we now call Mexico. Still, their society, like many others, has all but disappeared.

Our world changes all the time. In just 30 years since the 1990, 34 new countries have been created. But let’s go back further than that, in 1948 a remarkable thing happened, the State of Israel was proclaimed. The first Jewish state in 2,000 years was established.

Just think about that for a moment… since the time of Jesus, there was no official nation called Israel. There WERE Jewish people all over the  world, but they were exiles living in other countries.

Over the years at least 6 million Jewish people have returned to the land of Israel. The culture had not disappeared, the vibrant history and a powerful identity had persisted throughout the ages.

Why are the Jewish people different from other cultures? How did they keep the hope alive that one day they would again have a nation to live in?

Writer, professor and holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel said this, “I marvel at the resilience of the Jewish people. Their best characteristic is their desire to remember. No other people have such an obsession with memory.”

And what do the Jewish people remember?

They remember customs, they remember people, they remember their history. They remember their nation started with Abraham. They remember God promising Abraham a land to live in.

They remember who God says they are. His chosen people.

This is important for us today because of the sacrifice of Jesus and this verse in Galatians 3:28 (CEV). “Faith in Christ Jesus is what makes each of you equal with each other, whether you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or a free person, a man or a woman.”

Faith in Jesus Christ brings you into the family of God. We are united with Christ, our creator!

We need to remember what it means to be in Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:20 “God has made a great many promises. They are all “Yes” because of what Christ has done. So through Christ we say “Amen.” We want God to receive glory.”

Take a look at the strength of the Jewish people and remember you are who God says you are. You are; chosen by God, you are not alone and you are a Child of God.
