I'm a child of God, yes I am?

Everyone wants their children to succeed, but sometimes we don’t know how. We want them to navigate the world with grace and wisdom when they grow up; Christian parents want them to do this while remaining faithful in Christ. Teaching your children about God is one of the most important things you can do for their development as a person, and it doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task.

Check out Things Kids Need to Know About “Who They Are in Christ”.

Look at some inspiration from our resource “Who You Say I Am”  so you can make sure that your kids are learning everything they need to know about Christianity without making it too complicated or boring for them!

PARENTS & LEADERS:

Asking questions is a great way to learn new things and the disciples asked Jesus a lot of questions. Here’s one we read about in the gospel of Matthew; Matthew 18:1-5 (NIV), “At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”

Jesus continued to teach the disciples and answer their questions. Sometimes He would teach them the same lessons again and again, maybe because they were very important things to learn! One day people began bringing their children to Jesus, wanting Him to place His hands on them and pray over them. The disciples stopped them saying, “No no, you can’t bother Jesus now. Off you go.” Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, let them come to me and don’t stop them, don’t keep them away.” Again Jesus reminded the disciples of the lesson He had taught them earlier, “God’s Kingdom belongs to people just like these children.” Jesus prayed for the children, blessed them and then went on His way. Jesus showed us how important children are and that no matter how old you are, you can be one of God’s children. Galatians 3:26 (NIrV), “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God by believing in Christ.” I am a child of God.
