What Love Is (Because You Died)

We can’t have a true definition of love if we don’t know Jesus personally and have a revelation of what it is that he’s done.

Our world is bombarded with the pressure of living up to a certain standard. We can see this on social media where comparison runs rampant. The words of this song are powerful in light of these pressures… ‘I don’t have the heart to measure up to all the pressure.’

The truth is we’re not meant to try and measure up.

Colossians 1:21-23 (MSG) says,

You yourselves are a case study of what he does. At one time you all had your backs turned to God, thinking rebellious thoughts of him, giving him trouble every chance you got. But now, by giving himself completely at the Cross, actually dying for you, Christ brought you over to God’s side and put your lives together, whole and holy in his presence. You don’t walk away from a gift like that! You stay grounded and steady in that bond of trust, constantly tuned in to the Message, careful not to be distracted or diverted. There is no other Message—just this one. Every creature under heaven gets this same Message. I, Paul, am a messenger of this Message.

Just as this was Paul’s message to the early church, this is UNITED’s message today. The message of the unending, relentless love of Christ, who took us from the dead-end road and set us on a path of hope, continually showing his loving-kindness to us. May this revelation of love be a gift that we don’t walk away from or turn a blind eye too, but one that sets our gaze above the pressures of this world.  May we be aware of the One who makes us whole — the God who embraces us completely when we have no strength to try and measure up.
