Day 18: Advance In Healing

As Christians, we believe that God is our healer.

The Gospel of Matthew tells us that “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.” (Matthew 9:35, NIV) The good news of the kingdom of God has consistently been proclaimed through the healing of the sick. Jesus came specifically for the sick saying, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor…” (Matthew 9:12, NIV)

The early church knew Jesus was their healer too! James writes to encourage any of the sick among them to let the church pray over them that “the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.” (James 5:15 NIV)

Jesus continues to heal today through the prayers of His church. He continues to heal the sick, to heal the brokenhearted, and to heal the poor in spirit.

Pastor Brian Houston has written, “God’s will for us is healing and wholeness; nothing missing, nothing broken.” (Brian Houston, How to Maximise Your Life)

God cares about your emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing – He desires that you advance in healing and wholeness and Jesus has come so that you can receive that healing and wholeness.

Reaching out to a counselor, doctor, or pastor can help us advance in our emotional healing.

Getting proper sleep, exercise, and rest can be tools to advance in our physical healing.

And when we involve God in our pursuit to advance in healing, there will always be the opportunity for miracles and supernatural intervention.

As a follower of Christ, you have access to the Spirit of God and are promised healing and wholeness on this side of eternity or the next. Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV) says that “by His stripes, we are healed” and Revelation 21:4 (NIV) speaks of a day where “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.”

This promise of healing is for you! God is your healer and you can be a part of seeing advancement in healing for your own life and the lives of those around you.

Action Questions:

How can you step out today and pray for someone’s supernatural healing? How can you take steps to advance your own healing?

Prayer: Lord, I pray for healing to be poured over me. Physically, mentally and spiritually. Holy Spirit I pray that you would give me power to be the vessel for the outworking of your will to heal others. Thank you that we are already healed in your name Jesus. Amen.
