Applying for Postgraduate Study
In addition to all of the entry requirements of our vocational programs, admission into a postgraduate course of study is based on your most relevant study or work background.
Applicants who have completed the NSW Higher School Certificate (or the interstate or overseas equivalent qualifications) within the previous two years are admitted on the basis of their recent secondary education. For Australian Year 12 students seeking entry into either of our undergraduate courses, a minimum ATAR (or equivalent) of 65 is required. Special admission is available for such students whose ATAR (or equivalent) falls within 5 points of this, but have done well in subjects relevant to their course of study. These special admissions pathways are evaluated on a case-by-case basis through our admissions process.
For applicants who are under the age of 21 at time of commencement of studies, provisional entry into one of our undergraduate courses can be entered into through a prescribed program of non-award study. This qualifying period is typically the successful completion of 4 subjects as a non-award student. Once this provisional entry qualifying period is complete, the student can become a full candidate for an award of study.
For mature age applicants who are over the age of 21 at time of commencement of studies, provisional entry into one of our undergraduate courses can be entered into, and once this qualifying period is complete, the student can become a full candidate. This qualifying period is typically the successful completion of 4 subjects as a provisional entry candidate.
Completion of a AQF Level 7 Bachelors degree or completion of a AQF Level 8 or above postgraduate qualification (a completed postgraduate certificate with a credit average overall) is required. This qualification can be in any field of study, and does not need to be within the fields of Theology or Ministry.
Completion of a ministry or theology undergraduate or postgraduate degree, or equivalent.
Hillsong College recognise that many aspects of a person’s life experience may result in the development of skills, abilities and knowledge that directly relate to the ability to successfully undertake tertiary education.
Professional entry applicants are those who are applying for a postgraduate coursework (AQF Level 8 or 9) or higher degree research course of study (AQF Level 9) without having a prior required degree, but who are able to demonstrate appropriate professional experience. Our Professional Entry Criteria Policy outlines the eligibility requirements for admission into a postgraduate and higher degree research course of study on the basis of professional entry.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People
A student’s admission requirements may be reconsidered on educational disadvantage grounds if the applicant is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and where the normal HSC entry path has not been followed. These pathways are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director, with the recommendation then tabled for approval to the Admissions Committee.
Computer Literacy and Internet Access
Hillsong College students require access to computer and internet facilities, as written assessments are submitted online in typescript, with most assessments requiring database and internet research.
