THE STORIES BEHIND THE FACES OF The Twenty-16 Colour Invitation
Tell us about yourself!
I the very proud daughter of two strong individuals; who are passionately in love with each other, Jesus, and His Church. I am a big sister to three incredible humans, and an auntie to one crazy little nine-year-old girl whom I adore. And I’ve most recently added WIFE to my resume! 3 months ago I married my very best friend.
If you could be anything in the world what would it be?
I would be a Neurologist!!! The brain fascinates me – I would love to help people and families affected by brain injury.
What’s one lesson you’ve learned about yourself that you think girls reading this would benefit from?
Run so hard after Jesus. Let him be the one who defines who you are and the way you live. Run after him passionately and unapologetically. Don’t slow down for anyone! He will bring the right people at the right time to run alongside you – friends, mentors & your husband. Be courageous in your pursuit of the dreams He has placed in your heart!
If you could speak to girls 5 – 10 years younger than you, what would you say?
Don’t be afraid of doing things that are outside of your comfort zone. I think the greatest adventures and most beautiful gifts are waiting for you outside of your perfect five-year plan. Also – don’t waste your time dating a man who isn’t madly in love with Jesus FIRST.
What are you the most thankful for?
The Holy Spirit.
What do you love about Colour Conference?
I believe that we are SO much better standing together. To be among thousands of women who are seeking after God… it’s the most inspiring and encouraging atmosphere. It’s like finding an oasis in a desert; and for a few days…you just get to soak in it!
Who is Jesus to you?
He is my safest harbour & He is my strength. He is Peace & Love. Let’s be real… without Jesus, I am nothing.
Brooklynne's Salvation Story
My story is more like a journey of realizing what salvation is and how it is woven throughout my life… I guess you could say it’s been a lifelong love affair – Jesus and me. I have always known that He loves me, even in my earliest memories. And I would sing Him songs and talk to Him. He was my hiding place. I loved him without doubt or worry of being abandoned.
When I was five I was hurt by a boy; I thought it was my fault and in that moment I decided I would have to keep it a secret and spend the rest of my life making up for the ugliness that happened. Perfectionism and anxiety drove me through my school years and into my twenties. I ached knowing that I could never be enough or do enough – but I was determined to never let Him down.
It was summer on a beach in Hawaii and Jesus radically met me. He gave me the most tangible revelation of His love and precious grace; eradicating every lie of guilt and shame and condemnation. And it began a journey – I had to let Him love me – even the parts of me I hated – He literally loved the fear out of me. He redefined me. He has never left me, not for one moment. The love affair continues… and from a place of freedom I get to keep on singing to Him and talking to Him – He is my forever faithful, constant companion and my salvation. I’ll spend my life loving him.
