WHO’S IN YOUR FAMILY?
Aside from me, there’s Ben, my husband, our three boys – Bailee, Mannix, Jai – and our daughter, Savannah.
WHAT “FIELD” DO YOU FIND YOURSELF IN & HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT IT?
I am a mother to four beautiful kids. I am also studying Psychology. I really feel it’s a privilege to be at home with my children. At this stage I’m where I need to be supporting my husband who travels a lot and raising my kids. I think all mothers know the challenges of raising children. It’s a lot of responsibility growing and influencing four precious humans.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR “PATH” TO BEING FOUND IN YOUR FIELD?
I was acting in Home and Away when I was fourteen and that’s where I met my husband. I left the show at eighteen and got married. We travelled straight after the wedding to England, where we lived for nearly two years. We worked, we studied, we volunteered at Hillsong London and we travelled around Europe. We always wanted four kids and when I was twenty-two we had Bailee. My journey of motherhood began there and now I have four wonderful children. Of course there were challenges – probably too many to write down!
But life is full of challenges and we’ve been lucky enough to both have amazing parents who have demonstrated how to do life well, and navigate its challenges so that they ultimately grow you, not derail you. Ben and I are a strong team – I think waking up on a stranger’s couch in London just one week after we had gotten married, with no job and no place to go, built a firm reliance on each other and a resilience in the face of life’s challenge in us!
HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AS “ON MISSION” IN YOUR FIELD?
I try to focus on what we are here for. Ben heads up Film and Television at Hillsong. It’s a huge job and I am so proud of what he and the team are accomplishing. But I also really feel a part of what is happening! And I really believe that it is important for my children and I to support and journey alongside Ben in this mission that has so clearly been put on his heart.
I am also totally on mission to grow my children into the people God created and destined them to be. I know there are such special plans for these lovely little people and I need to be constant in my mission to raise them knowing who they are.
I also know my that what I learn about psychology will be used somehow as part of my future and I feel on mission to learn and excel in my studies.
WHAT’S NEXT TO BE DONE IN THE FIELD?
My job as mum will never be done, but as the children get older, I want to continue my studies. I also want to get back into acting!
