The journey toward God and our relationship with Him not only leads to personal revival but also gives way to corporate blessing. Rain in the bible is symbolic, amongst other things, of this blessing – fruitfulness, refreshing, cleansing and revival. The outpouring of rain showed God’s concern for and blessing upon a land or a people. Rain is a shared blessing and as we draw closer to God we naturally turn our attention also to others. God also used the imagery of rain when He spoke about pouring out His Spirit on the land (Isaiah 44) – just as water quenches a dry and thirsty land so will His Spirit revive our hearts and lives. We see how God poured out His Spirit on the early church when they were gathered together for the feast of Pentecost – an individual and communal blessing as God, by His Spirit, revived the hearts of men and women and ignited a fire within the new born church. So as we draw closer to God, let us believe for an outpouring of His Spirit like the refreshing spring rain reviving individual hearts and igniting His Church as we gather together for Hillsong Conference 2017.
+ Scripture reading:
The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.
(Deuteronomy 28:12, NIV)
