Naomi Norris
About Naomi
Naomi has been dancing for 20 years. Training as a student at Nicole Marshman Dance in Brisbane, Queensland, she learnt all styles including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary. She studied for exams in R.A.D Syllabus (Royal Academy of Dance) and learnt up to Solo Seal. It was at NMD that she began „teacher training“ and assisted in coaching the younger students, hoping to one day fulfil her passion of teaching Dance.
At 14, she commenced full time dance at Qld Conservatoire of Ballet, where she completed a Diploma of Dance (Classical and Contemporary Dance). She began to train in other Classical Syllabus’ including Cecchetti and Vaganova. It was here that she toured Australia to perform in the ballets of La Bayadere, Napoli, and Elite Syncopations, as well as musical pieces including Chicago and West Side Story.
At 16, she left home to pursue further full-time dance training at the New Zealand School of Dance in Wellington NZ. She majored in Classical Ballet however developed the passion for Contemporary Dance, Partnering work, and Choreographing. She also undertook theoretical subjects consisting of Music, Nutrition, Dance History, Physiology and Kinesiology.
After two years at NZSD, Naomi was awarded a Certificate in Dance Studies (Classical), and in 2011 was offered a scholarship with the Ajkun Ballet Theatre in New York, where she joined the company as a Trainee Artist. She was given the opportunity to perform with the company in the United States and tour to Italy.
She is Sydney based having completed her Diploma of Ministry, at Hillsong International Leadership College and is currently a trainer of the Dance Stream. She loves to invest her time into teaching Dance as well as choreographing her own works.
