Street Teams | Copenhagen

Street Teams

Because we care and because we can.

We focus on social inclusion and placing value on people in our backyard through our street teams.
We currently have the following street teams in Copenhagen and in Malmö.

The Refugee Fellowship

At the fellowship we eat and drink with refugees mainly from the Middle East. We do what we can to come alongside people from the fellowship and do life with them. We believe in relationships and creating a sense of family.

Time:
Bi-weekly, Fridays or Thursdays
at 17:00 – 20:00

Location:
Hvidovre, Copenhagen

Night Light Café

Opening a café at night for women in prostitution and meeting them in the Red Light District of Copenhagen. We reach out to the women on the street and invite them in for a listening ear and to come alongside them. We help with their next steps.

Women volunteers only, although men are encouraged to join the Night Light Café safety team.

Time:
Bi-weekly, Tuesdays at
22:00 – 03:30

Location:
Vesterbro Torv, Copenhagen

The Nursing Home

We want to honour the generations on whose shoulders we are standing. Many elderly are lonely, so we place value on them through genuine friendships and fun activities to brighten up their Saturday morning. If we can, we bring a guitar to lighten up the mood.

Time:
Bi-weekly, Saturdays at
10:00 – 12:00

Location:
Østerbro, Copenhagen

The Food Project

The Food Project is a Hillsong CityCare food bank in Copenhagen. The dream is to collaborate with supermarkets and serve free groceries to everyone in need in our backyard. Since the cap on the social cash benefits (kontanthjælpsloftet) many families are now struggling to make ends meet. Together we can do something about this.

This team is currently in the planning stage, and it will take heart and grit to see it come to pass. We would love to have you be part of the process with us.

Time:
Whatever you can give

Location:
TBD, Copenhagen

The Homeless Relief

Although we have a fantastic welfare system in Denmark, there is no denying that there are many homeless in our backyard. We are here to show compassion and offer relief in the form of food and beverages, genuine conversation. We believe in long term relationships and are committed to keep showing up.

Time:
Bi-weekly, Saturdays at
12:00 – 14:00 (from May)

Location:
TBD, Copenhagen

Malmö: Women’s Homeless Shelter

We go to a women’s homeless shelter to extend compassion to vulnerable women in Malmö. We bond with them through various activities and workshops. Our hope is that we can show these women that they are valuable and are loved regardless of their circumstances.

Time:
Please get in touch

Location:
Malmö

Seasonal projects: Christmas

In 2016 we invited 50 lonely and vulnerable people in for a free Christmas dinner, and our hope is to reach even more people in 2017. Be a part of creating this event for vulnerable people in our city during the season where loneliness is felt the most. We also have various other Christmas initiatives like Angel Tree, Winter Clothing Collection and more.
