40 Days of Deeper Devotion
“Church traditions, including those around Easter, are a wonderful opportunity to focus on key events in the life of Jesus, and ask what they mean to us. Maybe there is nothing sacred about the dates themselves, but there is something immensely significant about the remembrance. As we count down the days before the Easter weekend, which we are calling ‘forty days of deeper devotion’, why don’t we take this opportunity to examine our faith, engage with our church community, and seek a closer walk with Jesus. The forty days will look different for each one of us, but it might include a commitment to fast and pray, a decision to read a devotional book, or a resolve to add value to someone’s life. Whatever it might look like for you, let’s start by celebrating with our friends on pancake Tuesday”.
