I love being by the sea. Jumping into it, not so much though! But during this year’s staycation the weather was so warm that I thought, this is my year! I’m going in! So, off I went but as I finally arrived at the edge of the sea, I found myself wrestling within. I genuinely wanted to jump in and feel the water on my skin but at the same time the idea of that freezing first dip was holding me back. In that moment, as I was trying to collect some courage, I clearly remember the words of Paul pop into my mind;
“…I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way… Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!” 2 Cor. 6:11-13 MSG
As I was looking at this beautiful wide-open sea right in front of me, I thought to myself; that’s the kind of life God has prepared for me! And it’s just waiting for me to step in and start living it!
God’s has so much in store for us, His children & His Church. His purpose is much greater than we can ever fathom, yet He invites us to be part of His great plan. That’s why I love our Heart for the House offering cause it’s an opportunity for me to respond to that invitation. It’s an opportunity to make a personal sacrifice to sow into something greater than myself, saying “I give so we can…”, moving my mindset from me to we.
“Increase is coming, so enlarge your tent and add extensions to your dwelling. Hold nothing back! Make the tent ropes longer and the pegs stronger.” Isaiah 54:2 TPT
Increase is coming, and I believe that the miracle is in this house. We all have a part to play in “enlarging our tent” and gathering provision for the vision & mission so that we can make room for more people and shine brighter the light of Christ. It may feel a bit scary taking that step of faith and bring an offering, like taking that first dive into the sea, but can I just tell you? Generosity is not just a good idea, it’s a God-idea! And it’s not so much about what He wants from us as it is about what He wants for us.
“..It’s more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35 NIV
Our sacrifice is worth it, cause Jesus is worthy! Let’s not hold back. Let’s give so we can embrace the wide-open spacious life God has for us as a Church.
