CityCare Christmas

Our mission is to see families strengthened and vulnerable groups connected into community. Christmas is our opportunity to reach and help vulnerable people with practical and social needs, and to connect them into a community that loves and believes in them – just like Jesus loves and believes in us.

Angel Tree

We believe it’s every child’s right to receive a gift on Christmas Eve, and for every person to know they are loved and not alone. This is why we in Copenhagen, Malmö and Aarhus collect gifts and distribute the gifts to vulnerable people in our community, who may not be able to afford gifts or have no one to receive gifts from. As a church we can do something about this.
To give a gift to someone in need, you can pick up an Angel Tree tag at your church location. Each tag has a QR code on it, which will lead you to various gift suggestions on this page
To show that we care, please give a new gift (not second hand), and leave it unwrapped as we want the gifts to all look the same. Please also make sure that you bring back the gift before 8th of December in Copenhagen or 15th of December in Malmö and Aarhus.

Copenhagen

In Copenhagen we celebrate Christmas and have dinner with homeless and refugees. We seek to include them into a community that loves and believes in them – just like Jesus loves and believes in us.

Special! If your family wants to serve together, you have an opportunity to bring your kids to the refugee fellowship to play with other kids.

Homeless Dinner – 14th of December

We will also be handing out gifts at a nursing home on December 20th

Malmö

In Malmö you have an opportunity to help handing out gifts at the homeless shelter (December 21st) and to refugee kids & youth (December 20th) while enjoying coffee and cake together.

You can also volunteer to wrap the gifts while having “fika” with the team (December 18th).

Aarhus

In Aarhus you have an opportunity to serve and bless your community by helping distributing Christmas help hosted by Salvation Army. This opportunity is a great way to practically show love for the people in our city.

The event is on the December 19th. You will be helping with practicalities throughout the day and handing out the gifts that have been collected in church through Angel Tree.

Christmas Eve is spent with family, but don’t forget you have a family in church as well. We do church in cities with many people coming and going, and some people may for different reasons not have family or friends in Denmark or Malmö to spend Christmas Eve with. They aren’t homeless but could be exchange students, expats or simply just new to the city.

If you have room for one or two more people at your dinner table for Christmas Eve, or if you’re the one needing a place to celebrate Christmas Eve, let us help you get connected.
No matter if you live in Copenhagen, Malmö or Aarhus, we will try our best to find a host or guest for you.

Please sign up before the December 15th.

Angel Tree FAQ

Q: What is Angel Tree?
A: The Angel Tree is our way as a church to care for the vulnerable in our community by collecting gifts in the congregation and distributing them to those in need.

Q: Should I wrap the present?
A: No, we will wrap the presents so they all look the same.

Q: What can I buy for this person?
A: You can scan the QR-Code to find more information and gift suggestions.

Q: Is it okay to bring second hand presents?
A: No, we want to value and appreciate the individual who is receiving the gift with something new.

Q: When do I need to come back with the present?
A: In Copenhagen the deadline is December 8th and in Malmö & Aarhus the deadline is December 15th.

Q: I want to buy a gift for a child, but there are no tags left. Can I still buy a gift for a child?
A: Each tag represents an individual we know. Therefore we can only promise your gift is needed and helpful if you buy a gift for the specific tags we have available.

Q: Do you receive gifts without the tag?
A: Yes, we do. Please make sure to let our volunteers know the age and gender you had in mind when you bought the present.

Q: What happens if I bring in the gift after the deadline?
A: It will most likely be given to someone else but in the same category. But please bring it in time, so we can make sure to have a present for the people we have promised a gift.

Q: I have lost the tag how do I then find information on which type of present I should buy?
A: Go to the website angeltree.hillsong.dk for more information.

Q: Is it possible to drop of the gift at another time and place?
