Kilo Of Kindness
Kilo of Kindness that we launch in the lead up to Easter is centred on mobilising the church to donate non-perishable food items to help individuals and families in need in our communities.
In an affluent country such as ours there are still many families who live below the poverty line as measured for developed nations. One in eight Australians in fact, is struggling to place food on their table based on a report in 2012 by the Australian Council of Social Services.
In the lead up to Easter Weekend we mobilise our church to donate nonperishable food items to help individuals and families in need in our communities. This has significantly helped to sustain our community food pantries in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and the Gold Coast.
“In the last 12 months, more than 4 million Australians (18% of the population) have been in a situation where they have run out of food and have been unable to buy more.”
